Macaroni Casserole with Bacon and Ham

I’ve taken the decision that I want to also start to share family-friendly dinner recipes on the blog. As I really enjoy cooking and I often cook 4-5 times a week when I’m not working evening shifts for my family and we are 5 family members, 2 adults, and 3 kids. So I would like to share great dinner recipes for families that are more than 4 people, so my dinner recipes are mostly about 6-8 portions as both I and my husband bring lunchboxes for work 🙂

The first dinner recipe I wish to share with you is a simple recipe which we like a lot in my home. Macaroni Casserole can you do in many ways and this is with bacon and ham.

macaroni casserole

Makaronigratäng med bacon och skinka

8 portioner

Ingredienser:

  • 6 dl makaroner
  • 250 gram ärtor
  • 280 gram tärnad bacon (2×140 gram)
  • 180 gram rökt strimlad skinka
  • 6 ägg
  • 6 dl mjölk
  • salt och peppar
  • 150 gram riven ost (valfri sort)

Tillagning:

A nice dish for both kids and adults. Perfect recipe for busy days.

Servings: 8 portions
Author: Jeanette - Take A Sweet Bite
Ingredients
  • 2,5 cups uncooked macaroni
  • 280 grams diced bacon
  • 250 grams peas
  • 180 grams shredded ham
  • 2,5 cups milk
  • 150 grams grated cheese
Instructions
  1. Boil the macaroni after the package instruction.

  2. Start the oven on 200 degrees (392 F)

  3. Heat a pan without butter. Add the diced bacon and fried the bacon for 3-5 minutes.

  4. When the bacon is almost done, add the peas. I used frozen peas and I let the peas fried with the bacon for about 3 minutes.

  5. Take a big oven casserole or two smaller and add the boiled macaroni.

  6. Whisk eggs and milk together in a bowl and add little salt and pepper.

  7. Add the bacon and peas into the casserole and then the shredded ham and blend it with the macaroni and pour over the egg and milk mix.

  8. Add the grated cheese and blend it a little in the casserole, so the cheese isn't only on top.

  9. Let the macaroni casserole cook for 35-40 minutes on the middle section in the oven.

  10. Serve with a salad.

Recipe Notes

You can use which cheese you'll like in dish casserole.

NOTE The cooking time for this recipe is based on two smaller casserole oven forms, so if you use one big casserole you may need to extend the cooking time some.

Yes, it really is a great good casserole 🙂 Glad you found it helpful with the set up in two languages. I am a little scared that people will find it messy, but I really wish for my Swedish followers to be able to read my recipes easily too as it is my native language.

Phew, happy that it doesn’t come out as cluttered with the bilingual set up I tried with this recipe. Great to know it working out.

My youngest daughter loves anything that has macaroni it, so I am always looking for new recipes. I would never have thought to add bacon and ham to this.
